A West Lothian dad has brought plenty of festive cheer to his community this winter.

Del Campbell of Blackridge has set up a spectacular Christmas lights show at his home to cheer up locals, complete with synchronised music, amazing decorations and a snow machine.

He has been putting on shows this month which have attracted hundreds of viewers and is doing so again on Christmas Eve.

And generous Del is asking people who go along to make donations, which will go to the River Kids charity.

He said: “We hope that by creating our Christmas light show we can make everyone feel happy and smile and hopefully contribute something to our chosen charity.

“Something small to someone who does not have anything can be a massive help to them.”

A West Lothian dad is putting on a spectacular Christmas lights show to cheer up locals complete with synchronised music, amazing decorations and a snow machine.

Del Campbell’s display boasts over 5000 lights and would give any professional show a run for its money.

The electrician and his family, who live in Blackridge, said they wanted to spread a little Christmas cheer after a such a tough year and are also raising money for local children’s charity River Kids.

Del put on shows on December 19 and 20 and is doing so on Christmas Eve and is asking people to make donations, which will go to the charity.

He already has several shows under his belt that attracted 700 people, who he stressed all followed social distancing rules.

And he’s no novice to impressive light shows as he wowed audiences in October with his amazing Halloween light shows.

Del, who owns Westrigg Electrical, said it had taken around five weeks create the show so his lights synced up with instrumental versions of Jingle Bells and The Fairytale of New York.

And he said he took his inspiration from some of the amazing light shows popular with Americans when he visited on holiday. Del, who lives with wife Alana and kids Nyomi (8) and Jace (6), at Leishman Court, said: “We just wanted to give everybody some happiness and joy after everything that’s happened this year.

“I had originally asked companies I had done work for to donate selection boxes but that was hard to do because of coronavirus restrictions.

“Due to the amount of people asking if we are taking donations at our Halloween show we decided to this time do it for River Kids.

“We hope that by creating our Christmas light show we can make everyone feel happy and smile and hopefully contribute something to our chosen charity, which can be absolutely anything, something small to someone who does not have anything can be a massive help to them.

“We’re just happy to give people something to cheer them up, especially since there aren’t any Santa’s grottos or anything like that this year.”

The light shows take place at 5pm, 6.30pm and 8pm and at 5pm and 7pm on Christmas

Eve.
