Fiona Hyslop - MSP for Linlithgow
As your elected MSP for the Linlithgow Constituency, I welcome the opportunity to reflect on the experiences we shared in 2020 and look forward to what the new year could bring.
As we all know too well, 2020 has brought its challenges for everyone. My deepest sympathies go to those who have lost loved ones this year. It has been difficult to mourn and celebrate the life of our loved ones this year.
Despite this year’s difficulties, it has been reassuring to see West Lothian come together, support the vulnerable and make sacrifices to protect each other. I would like to thank the NHS and social care staff and the ambulance services for their continued work throughout the pandemic to help the sick and vulnerable. My thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to help others and to the wider community who has played a significant role this year for the cause of public safety. I will forever be grateful for the resilience shown by the people of West Lothian. Community spirit is incredibly important, and I urge us all to keep a hold of it as we move into 2021. With the welcomed news of a vaccine in the UK being approved at the beginning of December, I am sure we are all eagerly awaiting to see what 2021 will bring. I wish everyone a happy and safe festive season and a wonderful 2021 as we bring in the new year with optimism, determination and community spirit.
