A West Lothian singer says his latest track with a mental health theme is his best yet.

Jake Roberts from Linlithgow’s new song Friday Night Dancing is available now.

The singer says the song is the result of a year’s work and the poignant lyrics make it his favourite track.

The 19-year-old was awarded Solo Indie artist of the year at The 2020 Indies Awards just before lockdown was announced in March.

His new song details his battle with mental health as all his gigs were cancelled and he was confined to his home for large spells.

He said:“I was writing a song whilst I was feeling down. Over a full year I would go back and add onto it when my mental health was low.

“Like in September I was having a really bad week and sat down and wrote a load of lyrics in like five minutes. It is just really detailing the impact that mental health can have on you.

“I feel as though it is the best track I have written because of the lyrics in it.

“Lockdown has been really tough with being stuck indoors and all the gigs being cancelled.

“I had been due to headline at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh but that is all gone now.

“This year I have done two festivals online and they were pretty enjoyable to be fair, but bar that I have just been writing music and doing what I can do at this point.”

Jake says all of the revenue from the track raised with be donated to Kick Mental Health in Livingston.
