SNP - SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT

ANGELA CONSTANCE

-

Every child and every school in West Lothian benefits from SNP action.

To give our children the best start we have delivered more than 28,000 baby boxes, nearly 6000 families are eligible for our new Best Start Grant to help with the costs of a new born and when wee ones start nursery and school, our new Scottish Child Payment could help 16,500 local children in need.

To close the poverty related attainment gap we need to end child poverty. The SNP if re-elected, will double the Scottish Child Payment and introduce free school meals for all primary school children. This year’s expansion of free early learning and childcare to 1140 hours will also save families £4500 per child per year.

Over £5 million from the Attainment Scotland Fund was allocated to local schools and we have invested millions in school buildings at Pumpherston and Uphall Station Primary, Toronto Primary and West Calder High School with East Calder Primary and the Beatlie Campus set to benefit from the next phase of the school improvement programme.

The pandemic has been challenging for our children and young people, but it must not hold them back. That’s why your SNP Government has put in place a £400 million Education Recovery Plan and £125 million Young Person Guarantee of a place in education, training or work, and of course there are no tuition fees in Scotland.

With your support the SNP will continue to make Scotland the best place to grow up in.
