CONSERVATIVE -

DAMIAN DORAN TIMSON

-

Probably the most measurable of failures of the SNP over the past 14 years has been their record on education. I do believe Scotland will judge the SNP on their record for education in this election and we will see them pay for their failures at the ballot box.

The Scottish Conservatives in the first instance will re-join international studies and comparison models ensuring transparency exists in Education in Scotland.

We would recruit 3000 more teachers, ensuring class sizes are at levels that enable every child to receive a first class education and teachers have the time to teach and not be over-stretched beyond their capabilities.

In addition to this, the Scottish Conservatives have announced a fairer funding for councils, this will enable councils to deliver quality education standards in state of the art schools.

I will continue to push for early diagnosis of dyslexia to ensure children are not left behind, as many are now. It is shameful that children in primary school are already falling behind their peers just through needing a different method of teaching.

For many, this inequality lasts a lifetime just because the system does not identify their needs sooner. This has to change.

In the coming week the Scottish Conservatives will be publishing their manifesto and the focus on education will be reassuring to everyone who wants to see Scotland back to where they belong – a leader in the field of education.
