Autumn styles to fall

-

Summer is more or less over and at The Centre, Livingston, autumn styles are arriving in time for cooler days.

Light layering is key to seasonal dressing and retailers are showcasing an array of options – from cable knit cardigans and cropped shackets, to sleeveless blazers and oversized shirts.

This week our Style Squad caught up with shoppers at The Centre to check out their purchases and found bags overflowing with exciting wardrobe additions including suede bomber jackets from Superdry, ankle boots from M&S and animal print day dresses from Quiz.

Six lucky shoppers shared their purchases with us in return for a gift card worth £25, which can be used in over 80 stores and all restaurants in The Centre.

The first person to catch our eye was Gintare Ruseckaite (26), a beauty therapist from Fife, who was browsing the shops at The Centre, keeping an eye out for new season denim.

Gintare said: “I’ve just picked up a simple pair of straight cut jeans from H&M for £19.99. They’re just for daytime-wear but I liked the dark grey tones, something a little different from standard indigo.”

The next person on our style radar was Henna Naseem (28), from Livingston. Henna is studying Law at Napier University and was visiting The Centre with her husband when she spotted a pair of must-have trainers.

Henna said: “We stopped off for a couple of cooling drinks – a milkshake from Krispy Kreme and a detox juice from Fuel, before looking for a few school supplies for the new term.

“As soon as I saw the adidas Ozweego trainers in JD Sports, I couldn’t resist getting them.”

Our next lucky shopper was Muhammad Afzal (21), from Livingston. Muhammad is a student of electrical and electronic engineering at Napier University and was visiting

The Centre with his family when the Street Style Squad caught up with him.

Muhammad said: “I just got a really stylish blazer in the M&S sale – reduced from £55 down to £16. It’s a skinny fit and will be great to wear as a separate to mix and match with items I already own.”

The Style Squad couldn’t resist checking out the purchases of Julie Webster (52), a civil servant from Broxburn. Julie was visiting The

Centre to get a few things for her daughter including gym t-shirts and leggings.

Julie said: “I’ve been to Primark and Quiz to get what I need for my daughter but I spotted a jumper earlier that I could wear over dresses when it gets a bit cooler – I’m heading back now to treat myself with my gift card!”

Our next stylish shopper was Kerensa Brown (25), a primary teacher from Paisley.

Kerensa had come to The Centre with her husband for a day out, browsing the shops, when a dress caught her eye in the New Look sale.

Kerensa said: “We went for lunch then had a look around some of my favourite stores like H&M and New Look. I saw this pink and black polka dot dress on sale for £15 and thought it would be perfect for a late summer evening out.”

Our final lucky shopper was Lynsey Watson (34), an online shopper from Boghall, who was enjoying a little retail therapy with her daughter and treating her to a few birthday gifts.

Lynsey said: “We’ve had a really successful shopping trip for her birthday – she’s got a beautiful bracelet from Pandora, some trainers as well as this handbag from River Island.”

Ashley Bisland, deputy centre director at The Centre, said: “Our six lucky shoppers featured today have made some great additions to their wardrobes – we hope that they enjoy spending their gift cards.”

Ispottedajumper I could wear over dresses as it gets a bit cooler. I’m heading back to treat myself with my gift card! Julie Webster
