The West Lothian Prostate Cancer Support Group will soon welcome back their members for the first time since February last year.
The group’s first in-person meeting since then takes place on on October 7 at 7pm at the Crofhead Community Centre, Livingston.
The Group hope the previous high attendance numbers will return to attend the meetings and give them and their partners the opportunity to discuss questions they need answered regarding treatments and recovery.
Organiser Charlie Hogg (pictured) said: “During this difficult time when medical appointments have been by remote and treatments have been delayed we hope the Group can continue to provide the support and information needed by those recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.
“We have booked a special speaker for this meeting and Professor Stephen Tait from Glasgow University who will talk about his project‘Training the Immune System to fight returning Prostate Cancer’.
“This will be followed by a Q/A with our Specialist Nursing Team for anyone with questions on treatment matters or any other questions they may have.
“Strict covid protocols have all been put in place at the Crofthead Community
Centre Livingston to ensure all those attending the meeting feel totally safe.
“We also hope to welcome in person many of our new members we have not yet met in person but have been helped by phone and e mail through their treatment programme and on the night give them the opportunity they may need to speak to our existing members who have successfully come through their recent treatment programmes.”
