Plans revealed for new 60 bed care home

-

Plans have been revealed to build a new nursing home in West Lothian.

An application has been submitted to West Lothian Council for a new 60-bed care home at Falkirk Road in Linlithgow.

If approved, the existing GM Flooring building will be demolished to make way for the new facility.

The application has been submitted by Glasgow-based Inuos Developments.

The provider of residential nursing care facilities was known as Lorimer Care Homes (Linlithgow) limited until November 2019. If approved, it will be run by Care Concern Group.

The application states: “A new care home has not been built in Linlithgow in over 20 years. In that time the standard of care home design and the Care Inspectorate space and design requirements have increased significantly.

“The development of this brownfield site provides a great opportunity to build a modern, fully compliant care home to serve the

Linlithgow community.

“The proposals detailed in this document not only meet the current need for care accommodation within Linlithgow but present an opportunity to provide a high quality development that shall not only enhance the immediate urban fabric but also significantly benefit the wider community.”

The proposal wants to provide 60 premium bedrooms distributed over three floors, adding the floor area of all proposed bedrooms, day rooms and communal facilities are well above the Care Inspectorate’s National Space Standards requirements for care homes.

On each upper floor level direct access is provided to an out door terrace space.

At ground floor level direct access is provided to secure garden areas. An additional sheltered destination garden space for residents and visitors is provided at lower ground floor level at the rear of the home.
