Awards double for gym after struggle of lockdown
A West Lothian gym has gone from strength to strength and won two prestigious awards.
Steve Marsden Fitness has been named the Best Personal Training Specialist in Scotland from Prestige Awards and Best Boutique Gym in the Health and Fitness Awards.
Steve said it’s a remarkable turnaround, given that 12 months ago he was scared for the future of the business, adding in the last six months membership has risen by 200 per cent and jobs have been created for two new members of staff.
He continued:“I’m so relieved that we’ve come out the other side of the pandemic.
“It shows that people are more health conscious than before the pandemic and are willing to invest time, energy and money into becoming fitter and healthier.
“It’s crazy to me that the government doesn’t do more to support people becoming more active given that one of the main factors in surviving Covid-19 is their cardiovascular fitness.
“I believe our all-inclusive approach to training and nutrition makes a massive difference to whether someone will stick to exercise or give up – something most gyms are missing.
“Most gym’s business models are reliant on people not turning up to the gym but we de c ided to go the other way. Every day, we ask ourselves: ‘How c an we create a supportive, friendly environment while staying at the cutting edge of science?’
“I’m really please that the team and I have been recognised. We work so hard to keep people in shape and hopefully it’s the start of better things to c ome.’
