Games feature goals aplenty

-

Armadale Thistle, Linlithgow Rose and Stoneyburn all ensured they had derby day bragging rights on a weekend of five all-West Lothian ties in the East of Scotland.

The Rose overcame a red card to keeper Dean Shaw to defeat Blackburn United 2-1 at the Purdie Worldwide Community Stadium as they kept their unbeaten Premier Division run under Gordon Herd alive.

Alan Docherty gave Linlithgow an early lead but Shaw’s secondhalf red could have swung the match in United’s favour.

They were unable to make the most of their numerical advantage, though, as Mark Stowe netted late on to double Rose’s lead.

Jack Garrad fired home for United moments later but they were unable to find a dramatic leveller.

Two first-half Ryan Robertson goals helped guide Stoneyburn to a 4-1 home win over Pumpherston in Conference X. Euan Scott would give the Fulshie a three-goal lead before the deficit was reduced through a Ben Magee strike.

Cammy Donaldson scored a late fourth for Stoneyburn to complete the victory.

There was also five goal at Volunteer Park, with Armadale Thistle edging out Fauldhouse United 3-2.

Colin Strickland proved to be the difference with his double for the hosts.

Livingston United and West Calder United played out a scoreless draw while Livi’s Tuesday night clash away to Syngenta was called off.

In the Premier Division, Broxburn Athletic threw away a two goal lead before fighting back to rescue a draw at home to Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale.

Greg Binnie scored twice early on to put the Brox in control – only for them to then concede three times.

Shaun Harrison’s 86th minute strike at least earned them a share of the spoils.

In the West of Scotland, Harthill Royal suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Harmony Row in Division Four.
