PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATIO­N

We extend a warm and open invitation to everyone to join us at the West Kirk of Calder on June 5th at 10 am for a special united service to celebrate our Queens Platinum Jubilee. Two West Lothian businesses have secured a place on a national electric vehicle charging point contract, that will help Scotland’s councils work towards having ultra-low emission vehicle fleets. CaSpcotito­landinExhc­eel’srefirst electric vehicle charging infrastruc­ture framework has gone live to support the phasing out new

The event takes place in Gala Park at 6.30pm and includes Gala Entertainm­ent. Saturday 4th June, Gala Day; the Grand Gala Parade leaves from South Lodge Avenue at 1pm followed by Gala Sports held all afternoon in the park.

Gala Bags will be distribute­d in the park immediatel­y after the Parade and can be purchased then for £2 per bag.

are delighted to announce details of the names for the three new Memorial Benches as voted by Mid Calder residents. The first new bench at the side of the Institute Hall will be dedicated to Elizabeth (Betty) Buckle.

One of the benches beside McPovey The Coo will be dedicated to lan Ross and the third bench will be dedicated to Davie Yule.

The Community Council hope to have the plaques in place in time for Queen’s Jubilee Weekend and Mid Calder Gala Day.

LIVINGSTON CAMERA CLUB

new club season starts on Monday 5th September. The group normally meet at Crofthead Farm Community Centre on Mondays 7:15-9pm. Places are available for new members aged 18 or over and beginners are encouraged. Any new members who join over the summer are welcome to join in this season’s summer petrol and diesel cars from the public sector fleet, as the country aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2045.

Everwarm Ltd of Bathgate and Boyd Brothers (Fauldhouse) Ltd have now joined the group.

The framework will enable councils and other public bodies to source the supply,

CONCERT

A concert in support of the orphans from Dnipro, who were rescued from the Ukraine conflict by the Dnipro Kids’ charity and are now in Edinburgh, will take place at the West Kirk of Calder, from 7pm on 17 June. Hosted by Kirk of Calder, Polbeth Harwood Church and the West Kirk of Calder, musicians taking part include Amy Hawthorn, Jessica-Rose Smith and Sophie Finlayson and Alasdair Adams. Local residents are invited to join some of the fun clubs at Simpson Library in Bathgate’s Jim Walker Partnershi­p Centre.

New clubs are starting in June to join the growing list of activities taking place in the popular library,

Calming and Colouring Club meets every Tuesday morning from 10am to 11am starting on 7 June. Come along to chat and meet new friends as well as relax and chill out, with free refreshmen­ts provided.

Jigsaw club runs every Thursday morning from 10am to 12 noon starting on 2 June. Join with others to complete a jigsaw or fly solo and try to complete your own. The library has plenty of jigsaws available, with all welcome to attend on their own or bring your friends and make new friends. Free refreshmen­ts provided.

Games Night returns every Thursday from 6pm to 7.30pm from Thursday 2 June. Come along and play some board games, have a coffee and meet old friends and new.

Other one-off events taking place in the library include a special Fathers’ day crafts event for primary school children, Make a card for Dad, takes place on Friday 17 June from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
