Livingston came from 2-0 down to secure a very valuable three points in Paul Greig’s first game in charge as manager.

An Ashley Elizabeth goal directly from a corner sealed the comeback, with goals from Lauren Evans and Sharon Hughes-Lee meaning that Livingston fought back to win 3-2 at Almondvale.

St Johnstone raced into an early two goal lead, with SWPL 2 Player of the Month Ellie-Mae Cowie causing the home side a host of problems.

Her pace saw the forward run in behind and round Molly Reeve to open the scoring, before she turned creator for Saints’second. Her pass found Steffi Simson who made no mistake from inside the box to make it 2-0 inside 21 minutes.

The away side seemed to take their foot of the gas, allowing Livingston a route back into the game

Sharon Hughes-Lee found space down the right hand side and fired a low cross into the path of Lauren Evans who tapped in for her fourth goal of the season.

Hughes-Lee levelled things up with a fine finish from the right hand side. The wing back marauded forward into acres of space and coolly fired the ball into the bottom corner to even things up just before halF-time.

The second half was a competitive showing, with both sides threatening to take the lead.

Cowie continued to cause issues whilst Ashley Elizabeth went close with a shot from the edge of the box.

Elizabeth then had a chance to give Livingston the lead from the penalty spot, with Evans being fouled just inside the box. The striker’s effort was well saved by Bobby Cochran, who then made a crucial save to deny Livingston from the follow up as well. Cochran was then forced into another big save to deny Lucy Watt from close range.

Livingston did seal the comeback through Elizabeth in unusual fashion, as the striker’s corner went straight in, making amends for her penalty miss and earning her ninth goal of the season and fourth in three games.

The home side did well to see the game out with a professional showing despite going down two goals early on.

The victory sees Livingston go six points ahead of Boroughmuir Thistle in third place in the SWPL 2, with only four games left of the season.

Paul Greig’s side are six points behind second-place Kilmarnock.

Next up at Almondvale is a midweek clash on Wednesday, May 1 when Glasgow Women travel to West Lothian. Kick-off for that one is 7.45pm.
