We are trying to rectify situation
Mrs Clarkes letter (WSCT November 12) quite rightly highlights the forthcoming problems of the closure of the Rusper Road link between the Giblets Way roundabout and the A264.
However, it has a much wider effect than Old Holbrook. It will deny most of North Horsham, probably between 10 and 15,000 residents, access to most of the North, South and West of the county and beyond for a very long period of time.
The alternatives are tedious and normally already heavily used, with considerable traffic delays at peak periods.
West Sussex County Council (WSCC) have issued an order stating that the road will be closed for a minimum of 15 weeks and access from Meadow Farm Road to the roundabout will not be allowed.
It should be noted that this has been done simply by agreement between WSCC and the developer. There has been no consultation at all between them and both the district and parish councils or local residents, which in itself is an extraordinary situation.
The main reason for this closure is the perceived need to put a sewage pipe, three metres down beneath the existing road.
Notwithstanding the illadvised idea of putting vital services beneath a busy carriageway, in the original plan Liberty (then the developers) proposed a sewage connection further to the West using a tunnel under the A264. This would have caused little or no disruption to local residents.
We have no idea why this has been changed and have been actively lobbying the
