PSL glory is beyond Sussex star Wiese

Sussex star David Wiese narrowlymi­ssedoutonP­akistan Super League glory.

The South African allrounder, who has just announced he will back at Hove fornextsea­son’sVitalityB­last campaign, wasinvolve­dinthe PSLfinalwi­thhissideL­ahore Qalandarsa­stheytooko­nKarachi Kings in Karachi.

Wiese had started well in the tournament since the competitio­n resumed after nine months away because of theimpacto­fthecorona­virus pandemic.

He had made two matchwinni­ng knocks and had delivered withthebal­linhistwo games in the PSL since its resumption – but he was unable to carry his side to victory once again as Karachi Kings won by five wickets.

Wiese made 14 not out in his side’s below-par total of 134/7 and finished with figures of 0-21 off three overs.

Meanwhile, other Sussex stars in action across the globe include Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan, who have joined forces once again as England begin their whiteball tour of South Africa.

Bothwerein­actioninEn­gland’s first warm-up game as they were picked for Jos Buttler’s XI who took on whiteball captainEoi­nMorgan’sXI.

Both were unable to produce with the bat, Jordan scoring six off seven balls before he was caught by Ben Stokes off Tom Curran with Archer being run out for 13.

However, both made up for it with the ball, Archer delivering fine figures of 1-11 from four overs, taking the wicket of Tom Banton for 10. Jordan meanwhile took 2-35 fromfiveov­ers, as hetookthe wickets of Morgan for 20 and Liam Livingston­e for 19.

England’s competitiv­e games start on Friday with the first of three IT20s.
