‘It’s the most wonderful feeling’

Horsham-based Christmas elf shares her love of all things fun and festive

- Name: Elfy Beanz

HOWDID YOU DECIDE ON THIS CAREER?

I come from CraZy BeanZ Land originally. Christmas was always my most favourite time of year, so my friends always put me in charge of the festivities. One of Father Christmas’s elf recruitment officers had heard about my amazing winter festivals and cametosee. Next thing I knew I was whisked off to the workshop and given a tour. That was it for me. I knew I had found my calling and began my life living and working as an official North Pole elf!

HOW DOES A NORMAL DAY USUALLY GO?

We always start the day with a song and dance. Something uplifting and silly. My favourite is Jingle Bell Rock. We like to do this all together in the main square outside our cozy cottages. After a yummy spiced breakfast, we head off to the main workshop. My usual method of travel is candy cane skis. It’s sooooo much fun whizzing around on the snow. I am a joy spreader, so I spend my days travelling to the human BeanZ in my disguise (which is a robin). I watch the humans and learn all about their joys, their journeys, their struggles and their achievements. Some days I stay in the workshop and work on my joy making magic and activities. The magic you feel, but the activities I bring to the children at Christmas time.

Did you know that children are the keepers of joy? They keep the joy going all year round. This i s why we give a lot of it to them. They are the most reliable joy keepers out of all the human BeanZ.

WHAT GIVES YOU THE MOST JOB SATISFACTION?

Seeing the joy and love spread through a family after I visit them. It is the most wonderful feeling when you have helped to create and grow such a magical feeling! Human Bean Z are my favourite creatures.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS?

I see myself meeting thousands of five-year-olds who are being born right now! Isn’t that a magical thought?
