It starts better than it ends as Billingshurst are beaten
Billingshurst slipped to a 7-1 SCFL division one defeat at free-scoring Littlehampton.
The opening minutes were even, with both team shaving chances to score.
Little hampton looked sharp early on with a Tom Biggss hot in the eighth minute but was denied by a great save from Billingshurst keeper James Stallan.
Billings hurst continued to look bright and they took the lead with the first goal in the 15th minute. A dribble from Martin Mutungi was enough to cause the Littlehampton defence problems, and he stroked the ball into the net beating James Binfield at his near post.
The game opened up and Little hampton got back into it just after the half 0 hour mark through a Joe Benn goal. Arebound shot fell his way and he calmly put the ball past Stallan.
Little hampton stepped up the pressure and went close to going ahead in the 40th minute but George Gaskin’s strike was saved by Stallan.
In the second half Littlehampton played with more confidence as the team looked to assert their dominance and turn the game around. It didn’t take long for them to take the lead with Benn scoring again in the 51 st minute. After another good spell a corner just minutes later was enough to see Benn complete his hat-trick with a header from a Mitch Hand cross.
A penalty in the 65 th minute was calmly put away by Jordan Lay ton then a Jack Newhouse strike found the bottom corner for 5-1.
A 25- yard strike from Dan Hegarty in the 91st minute was added to by the same player to leave Billingshurst well-beaten.
