Have a virtual cuppa to help turn ‘Blue Monday’ around
Horsham residents are being urged to reach out to others this ‘Blue Monday’ by getting together virtually for a cuppa.
Horsham District Council’s Horsham town neighbourhood wardens are supporting the Samaritans’ call to turn the most depressing day of the year into something more positive.
Brew Monday will take place on the third Monday of the year – January 18 – which is often referred to as Blue Monday due to the short days, the weather and the fact that the Christmas festivities have passed and people may face credit card bills.
Taking part could simply be a video or phone call with work colleagues, neighbours, family or friends and is an opportunity to have a chat,a cup of tea/coffee and check in on loved ones at a time when social contact is limited.
Councillor Tricia Youtan, Horsham District Council’s cabinet member for community matters and wellbeing, said: “At this time it is more important than ever to try to remain positive and connected to friends and family.
“I’m pleased to see that the Horsham town neighbourhood wardens are working with the Samaritans on this Brew Monday campaign and encourage anyone who feels they need help in meeting new people to contact them.”
