‘Positive response of local residents shows the benefit of the campaign’

- Sarah Page

South Downs MP Andrew Griffith has once again given his support to the County Times’ A Shot in the Arm campaign as it reaches its conclusion.

The campaign was launched in all JPIMedia titles across the company last month, with the aim being to make it as easy as possible for people to access a vaccine – ideally within ten minutes’ walking distance, not the ten miles outlined by the government.

Mr Griffith has been calling for the mobilisation of all possible resources to deliver vaccine since giving the campaign his personal backing last month.

He said: “The positive response of local residents shows the benefit of the A Shot in the Arm campaign to have more local pharmacies and GP clinics across the county and I will continue to

support calls for more sites.”

The MP was speaking at one of the area’s newest vaccination hubs at the Henfield Medical Centre.

Andrew praised Dr Karen Crawford-Clarke and her team for pushing ahead in getting NHS England

approval in record-time. They have become the second hub in the Chanctonbury Primary Care Network, working in parallel with The Glebe in Storrington.

Horsham Primary Care Network, which is made up of Park Surgery, Holbrook

Surgery, Orchard Surgery and Riverside Medical Practice, took on a mammoth task when they were given a batch of 438 Pfizer vaccines with just 24 hours to use them.

A spokesman added: “In the space of 12 hours,

we called, booked and vaccinated 438 patients who were all too happy to be called and come down with a moment’s notice.

“Their brilliant spirits lifted the whole clinic and we were humbled to be able to deliver this service to them.”
