Boro are kept very busy on the green
Pulborough Bowls Club had another busy week of bowls action.
Two triples played 18 ends of Brookes Motors League mixed bowls at Southbourne.
Of the two teams, one was victorious, with skip Paul Leatherbarrow, Peter Newman and Jane Gray taking the win by 20-12.
Pulborough travelled to play the Grasshoppers on Thursday evening.
Five triples played in the evening sunshine, with Pulborough taking wins on two of the five rinks.
Skip Ian Petrie, with John Walsh and Hugh Hubbard in support, finish five shots ahead of their opposition, whilst Malcolm Gray, his wife Jane and Linda Meadowcroft, finish with an impressive 12-6 and top rink.
The final result was a close 67-53 to the Grasshoppers.
Boro travelled to Maltravers for the second time in as many weeks.
Four league triples played, accompanied by a ladies rink alongside, with both playing 18 ends of competitive bowls. The ladies rink, skipped by Jane Gray, with Linda Meadowcroft, Jenny Patterson and Tara Davy, won 19-10.
John Brown, Ray Knight and Jeff Davy won 16-12.
Skip Steve Adsett, with Mick Ayling and Ian Younger recorded a comfortable 25-12 win.
The annual Family Fun Day usually attracts quite the crowd from in and around Pulborough, but this year the weather had different ideas, with rain from start to finish.
Members and a few invited guests braved the weather to spend the afternoon at the club, which did make the club over £120 towards it’s upkeep, but the green remained empty and any potential new bowlers stayed away.
