West Chilt march on, huge win forFold

West Chiltingto­n & Thakeham CC continued their pursuit for the Division 3 West title with a 153-run home win over Broadwater CC on Saturday.

Charlie Tear (118 off 74 balls), Hugo Gillespie (90 off 70), Reuben Taylor (55* off 32) and Jack Turner (32* off nine) produced swashbuckl­ing displays as Chilt bludgeoned 3174 off 34 overs.

Broadwater could only manage 164-5 from 34 overs in reply. Gareth Challen hit an unbeaten 58 off 50 balls.

Chilt lead second-placed Ansty CC by 47 points going in to this Saturday’s trip to Henfield CC.

Elsewhere in Division 3 West, Slinfold CC (252-6) picked up a vital four-wicket win at Worthing CC (250-8).

Jack Perman crashed 68 off 44 balls for Worthing. Dan Smith (79) and Fazlan Nizamdeen (63) lead the charge in Fold’s reply.

Slinfold are now 29 points clear of the drop going into home clash with Ansty.

Ten-man Pulborough CC were put into bat in their home game against Crawley Eagles CC 3rd XI in Division 7 West.

Boro clawed there way to 113 all out off 39.3 overs. Peter Wood was the main runscorer with 34 while Tommy Dunger and Lee Callagan chipped in with 15 each. Hassan Mutaba (3-17) was the pick of Eagles bowlers.

In reply Eagles started well with Ajaz Khan making 25 and Malhar Buharideen making 20. But captain Callagan took 6-38 and Shane West 2-24.

Dunger took the final wicket, finishing 2-27, to leave Eagles all out for 111.

Third-from-bottom Boro visit place-below Selsey CC this Saturday.
