New series of recordings

-

Brighton’s The Rose Hill venue, studios and label are launching a new series of recordings.

Jules Arthur, who runs the venue, explains: “We first opened five years ago and The Rose Hill ended up being the first Brighton building to receive an Asset of Community Value tag on it and a development into flats was halted!

“Since then we have blossomed into a thriving micro arts centre with gigs, recording studios, creative residencies, associate artist programme, outreach programmes etc.”

Now they are launching the new Live at The Rose Hill series on their own label, Rose Hill Records.

“There’s an epic archive of interesting performances to delve into, We’ve multitracked loads of the amazing gigs we’ve hosted at The Rose

Hill over the years and we’ll be putting out a fivetrack track sampler every two months.

“Live At The Rose Hill will shine a light on some of the most exciting new music being created in the UK and beyond.

“Live At The Rose Hill #1 features: Barnacles – horn-led UK jazz visionaries; Jad Fair – prolific US art punk hero; Saidi Kanda – world-class Tanzanian musician fusing village roots with urban rumba; Gus Garside & Trevor Watts – free improvisers of the highest order; and Marisa Anderson – US folk guitarist, inspired by 20th-century classical and West African techniques.

“The Rose Hill is a rare and precious beast, an entirely independent venue, recording studio and record label run with love by a team of artists who really (care)!”
