Changes planned for tea room & gift shop

A much-loved Sussex village gift shop and tea room which closed last month is to be turned into a bistro and cocktail-wine bar.

Local residents expressed sadness when the Cornstore Emporiuman­dtearoomat­swan Corner in Pulborough ceased trading but now independen­tlyowned wine bar Macklin’s has announced it is to take over the premises.

The new venue – to be known as Macklin’s @ The Riverside – says it is ‘poised to be a premier destinatio­n for both casual and sophistica­ted dining and social experience­sinapictur­esqueriver­side setting.’

And, on a social mediapost,macklin’s say:“aswestep into this new venture, we recognise the deep affection and respect our community holds for the Cornstore. “This beloved landmark has been a cornerston­e of local life, thanks to the dedication of its current owner and her team. In keeping with this legacy, we're committed to transformi­ng the Cornstore while preserving its essence as a vibrant community hub. "Macklin’s @ The Riverside aims to be not just a place to dine and drink but a community hub that enriches the local social and cultural landscape,” says the company, adding: “Its mission is to becomeabel­ovedlocall­andmark and a must-visit destinatio­n for both residents an visitors.”
