Addai joins Solihull until season’s end

-

CHELTENHAM forward Alex Addai has joined National League side Solihull Moors on loan until the end of the season.

Moors, managed by ex-Robins boss Mark Yates, were keen to sign the 27-year-old before his temporary switch to Maidenhead back in November.

Addai has not started a League Two match this season, but he has made ten appearances from the bench for Michael Duff ’s promotion chasers.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and is now likely to have made his last appearance in Robins colours.

Addai, pictured, said: “I’ve heard a lot about Solihull, they’ve made a lot of noise for a long time – I’m excited and happy to join.

“The facilities are second-tonone and all of the staff and players have made me feel really welcome.

“The team are on an excellent run at the minute, so hopefully I can get some minutes under my belt, affect football matches and get us as high up as possible.”

Solihull are 15th in the National League, from which there is no relegation this season due to the North and South divisions being declared null and void due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cheltenham, meanwhile, host Leyton Orient in League Two this afternoon. The London club are tenth in the table following an excellent run under Jobi McAnuff, who was installed following the departure of Ross Embleton.

Duff said: “The formation has stayed the same, and the players have stayed the same.

“I think Jobi has managed to get an extra ten per cent out of the players. They look organised, with good energy levels, and they are obviously on a good run, so they’ll be coming here with a winning mentality.

“They won’t be coming to shut up shop because they need to keep on winning to get into the play-offs.

“It is always a difficult game against Leyton Orient, but it should be a good game.

“We know what we have to do. You need to find a way. Monday (at Grimsby) they were camped in for the last 60 or 70 minutes of the game.

“It’s working out whatever is put in front of you, but I don’t think Leyton Orient will be coming to sit on the edge of their own box and play for a 0-0.”
