NOTHING COMES BEFORE THE REDS
MICK’S DEVOTION TO LIVERPOOL EVEN MEANT POSTPONING HIS WEDDING…
well known for their loyal support, but Reds stalwart Mick Corns is as devoted as it gets.
Wife Heather calls her hubby – a season ticket holder for the past 30 years – “the most passionate Liverpool fan ever known”.
Mick has travelled the world watching his beloved team and the couple have rescheduled holidays to make sure he can attend games – they even put their wedding back a year because of a fixture clash.
Heather also recalls the time in 2007 when Mick flew to Athens to see Liverpool face Milan in the Champions League final – it just happened to be the day she was due to give birth to their son.
Thankfully, the pregnancy went into extra time and Layton Finlay Corns (note the initials, LFC) was born on June 3 – the same date on which the Anfield club was formed 115 years earlier.
To mark his dedication, Mick has now been named the latest monthly winner in Coral’s Football Fan of the Year competition.
Nominated by Heather, Mick wins a £1,000 prize and has
a chance to be crowned Coral’s ultimate Football Fan of the Year and receive a £10,000 jackpot at the end of the season.
Heather says: “Although we have to change our lives to fit in with Liverpool, I love the passion he has for his team.
“Every year Mick has attended a memorial service at
Hillsborough to pay his respects to the fans who died, and this often means taking time off work to attend.
“I truly believe that my husband deserves the title of the nation’s biggest football fan.”
