Prince and health chief to address green conference
PRINCE Charles and the Government’s chief scientist, Sir Patrick Vallance, are to headline a conference in the South West on how businesses can benefit from the green agenda.
Exeter University’s Environment and Sustainability Institute will host the event on the Penryn Campus in the week leading up to the G7 summit in Carbis Bay, St Ives, with speakers from all over the world contributing via the internet.
There will be a joint welcome from Cornwall Chamber of Commerce chief executive Kim Conchie and Eden Project co-founder, Tim Smit, followed by addresses from Prince Charles and Sir Patrick – who has become one of the most recognisable and respected figures in the country during the coronavirus crisis.
Mr Conchie said: “The topic of sustainability in all its aspects is something Cornwall is so
passionate about – and in some areas leading on. We want to have a business conference which makes it quite clear we expect our political leaders to move collaboratively and quickly towards sustainable policies and laws.”
Conference organiser and veteran sustainability expert, Dr John Henry Looney, has spent nearly four decades helping organisations work towards a greener, better world in over 35 countries on all parts of sustainability – social, environmental and financial.
“As we move to recover from Covid, it is clear we need a global vision for sustainable growth,” he said. “This opportunity to examine the G7 and COP26 themes is a perfect moment for Cornwall to share our vision on a world stage.”
