Too much power in the hands of too few
MILLIONS of UK citizens who are passionate about football suddenly woke up to find that billionaires owned – and so controlled, for their own ‘particular and different reason’ – the thing they loved. And they were powerless.
However, they are pacified now, since the international owners recognised a small blunder in their plans, and no doubt, will choose a modified scheme next time.
Football fans appear to think that something has now changed. But the idea that the power base has moved, between those who pay, and those who reap it in, is really quite ludicrous.
What seems astonishing to me is that UK citizens have learnt nothing from this small scale demonstration of our national economy, which controls our lives.
We cast votes for political parties and MPs do have the power to modify policies.
But, in a Conservative economy, most of the power is the power of money and the market, run by very few people, of whom some may be honest billionaires.
Could you not learn from the lessons of football?
Who in their right mind could imagine that this is the most efficient model you could devise of a nation’s economy, to place all this wealth and resources into the hands of a few, controlling huge corporations as they wish?
You must have heard the Tory argument, that we must not tax these people more than is acceptable to them (if they live in this country), in case they get cross and take all this wealth abroad.
That looks like blackmail.
We could spread the power of wise decisions more widely amongst many people, to come to a variety of judgements, how national resources could best be employed, not just to suit the convenience of a few.
