READY FOR AN APPLE UNVEILING?

Apple has sent out invitations to a special press event on September 14 at which it is expected to reveal its next generation iPhone.

Not a lot is known about the new phones – expected to be called the iPhone 13 – but they are not thought to feature a huge redesign.

We can, though, look forward to better cameras and a faster processor in the devices, which should come in the same sizes as the iPhone 12 – a mini with a 5.42in screen, and standard with a 6.1in screen. The Pro models will come in the same sizes as last year – a standard sized 6.1in screen and a Max version with a 6.7in screen.

There’s also speculation that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be introduced at the event, and all the signs are that the device will feature a significant redesign. Apple is reportedly planning to ditch the curved sides and flatten everything, as it did with the iPhone last year.

There will also be a larger screen and the device will have a slightly larger overall size than the Series 6.

The presentation kicks off at 6pm.

TWITTER LAUNCHES SUPER FOLLOWS

Super Follows is a new way for people to make money out of their activity on Twitter that launched last week in the US and Canada, and will be coming our way soon.

It essentially allows popular users to allow their followers to become Super Followers by paying a monthly subscription fee. Then, when posting stuff to the social network, the user can either allow only their Super Followers to see it, or they can allow everyone to see it.

There are only a handful of people who can accept Super Follows at the moment, and in the UK we won’t see that content. But Twitter says it is rolling the feature out globally over the next few weeks. More features will be coming to Super Follows, too, – soon members-only audio Spaces and Newsletters will be added.

NEW HUES OF SMART LIGHTING

Smart home fans will be delighted to hear of a massive expansion to the range offered by the most popular maker of smart lighting, Philips.

Its Hue range now includes lighting strips and floor lights featuring ‘gradient’ lighting, which can display multiple colours along the device’s length. There are also retro-looking filament bulbs and ceiling panel lights.
