Sarll: Round pegs for the round holes

-

YEOVIL Town manager Darren Sarll could be without several players for this afternoon’s clash away to Stockport County.

The Glovers have been without full-back Jack Robinson since he picked up an injury in one of his first training sessions, while other members of the squad are carrying knocks.

While Robinson is expected back in training on Monday, there is uncertainty surrounding the participation of Dale Gorman and Tom Knowles at Stockport.

Sarll, below, said: “I think Jack will be available for the following week. He’s still at Middlesbrough at the minute. We’re expecting him back here on Monday.

“Dale and Tom have got a couple of niggles from the three games in a short space of time. We’ll have to leave them as late as possible.

“We’ll have to look at changes, whether that’s alternatives or a shape change. I’m a believer that you take your best 11 individuals and put them in the best shape. We’ll try to put round pegs in round holes.”

While Yeovil have won two on the spin following their delayed start to the National League, in the National League South Bath City are going the other way.

The Romans won their opening two matches of the campaign, but have now lost three consecutively and today visit a Braintree side that is yet to lose this season, although they have won just once and drawn the rest.

Chippenham, however, have two victories and two draws from their opening four matches to lie fifth and their home match with Chelmsford offers another decent chance of three points, with the Essex side having registered only one win so far this term – against Bath at the end of August.

In the National League North, Gloucester City must attempt to bounce back form the utter humiliation of losing 9-0 away to Chorley last time out.

Paul Groves’ men, who have lost three games in a row and have the worse goal difference in the division, host Curzon Ashton, who occupy fourth spot with ten points from five games.

Hereford, meanwhile, have had their match at York postponed due to a reported Covid outbreak in the Bulls’ camp. They will be bottom if Darlington win at Blyth.
