Behold, a saviour to the EU cause

-

IT’S good to see new letter writers on these pages and the return of several past writers. I would like to congratulate Alan Wilson on his superb letter in Thursday’s edition.

Sadly, I have to take issue with Elizabeth Smith’s letter, the fact that her daughter now has to live in Portugal for five years to qualify for a European Union passport didn’t figure large in my decision to campaign for and vote for this country to leave the clutches of the EU. That’s rather a long time to spend to qualify for a passport isn’t it? It’s your daughter’s choice Mrs Smith and has nothing to with Brexit.

The sad Remainers amongst us may take heart (or not, as the case may be) as a new saviour to their cause has announced his intentions to take this country back into the EU.

Step forward Lord Andrew Adonis, unelected ever for any office, yet enabled to command us in every way... the jealous custodian of

HS2, now costing several times more to build than ever projected, certainly by Lord Adonis when he first dreamed it up in 2003 with an estimated cost of £1.1 billion; now, nearly 20 years later, it has an estimated cost of between £65 billion and £80 billion. Think what we could do with that amount of wasted money!

According to Lord Adonis “the only way to make Brexit work is to rejoin the EU”. He has recently been made the Chair of EM (European Movement). Never heard of it? No, me neither... Apparently, it’s sprung from the group Devizes For Europe and other randomly selected towns and countries to sound official.

These people never learn, they forget what happened to the Liberal Democrats... who can forget their then leader, Jo Swinson, in her election campaign chanting ‘Exit to Brexit’ – and then promptly losing her own seat.
