In-form Norris so keen to go again
Somerset driver is targeting another positive result in the Turkish Grand Prix
LANDO Norris is desperate to get back on the racetrack and put the disappointment of the Russian Grand Prix behind him.
The McClaren driver saw a maiden victory slip through his fingers in Sochi last time out when rain and poor decision-making, electing not to change tyres, saw him tumble down the order late on.
Yet it was still a successful weekend overall, with Somerset’s Norris securing a first career pole position.
It has been a solid season for
Norris, who sits fourth in the driver’s standings – just 12 points behind Mercedes’ Valterri Bottas.
Norris, right, is aiming to continue his fine form in Turkey this weekend, although he admitted his team do not know precisely on which tracks they will be the most effective.
Asked how excited he was to be back in action again, the McLaren youngster said: “Very. We’ve come off two very good weekends, both from Italy and of course Russia, but with how Russia ended I just want to get back in the car and try again.
“It’s not going to be a guarantee or anything that we’ll be able to do as well, we might not score another pole position or be able to get on the podium necessarily, but we can still have a good weekend, get some points on the board and that’s the aim for this weekend.
“I don’t know what kind of places we’ll be really strong at, what places we won’t be. I would say I don’t think we were expected to be quite as good in Russia as what we were, so for us it’s just waiting and seeing.
“Things can always change and the confidence of a driver can always change massively. We’ll see.”
