Rivals set for prep fights

Froome switch revealed

SEVEN-TIME Grand Tour winner Chris Froome will leave Team Ineos at the end of the season to bring an end to a decade-long association with Sir Dave Brailsford’s team.

The four-time Tour de France winner is set to join the Israel Start-Up Nation squad for next season after seeing his leadership role within what was Team Sky challenged by the emergence of Geraint Thomas and Egan Bernal, who have won the past two editions of Le Tour between them.

“It has been a phenomenal decade with the team,” Froome said.

DANIEL Dubois and Joe Joyce will take tune-up fights before their all-British heavyweight showdown later this year.

The pair are set to to shake off the ring rust at the BT Sport Studio in Stratford, with Joyce taking on Germany’s Michael Wallisch in a ten-round bout on July 25 and Dubois facing Hamburg’s Russian-born Erik Pfeifer on August 29. Assuming there are no major upsets, the two undefeated Londoners will then face-off against each other on October 24 at the O2 Arena in a clash that has already been postponed twice due to coronavirus.
