Stars filming scenes in city for Sky drama

-

FAMOUS actors have been spotted filming scenes for A Discovery of Witches in Bristol city centre.

Matthew Goode and Edward Bluemel, who play vampires, were seen in a silver Bentley on Queen Square on Sunday, September 27, surrounded by a crew for the Sky fantasy drama.

In another shot Goode was seen walking on the pavement of the square, dressed in the trademark all-dark outfit of his 1,500-year-old character.

A Discovery of Witches is set in Oxford, but much of the filming has taken place in Bristol and Cardiff.

Scenes from the first series, which aired in 2018, were shot in The Harbour Hotel on Corn Street and the Highbury Vaults pub on St Michael’s Hill.

The series also featured footage of The Rummer Hotel on All Saints Lane, as well as Deanery Road near Bristol Cathedral.

Its crew returned to Bristol last July to film scenes for series two at a Georgian property on Berkeley Square.

The second series is due to hit screens in January, but the Queen

Square shoot is believed to be for the third.

Last month, a tweet from producer Jane Tranter implied filming for the third series was set to start soon, according to the Radio Times.

Goode has previously starred in Downton Abbey and Bluemel in Killing Eve.

Based on the All Souls book trilogy by Deborah Harkness, A Discovery of Witches follows a witch (Teresa Palmer) and vampire (Goode) who form an unlikely alliance.

Bristol Film Office has supported work on the Bad Wolf and Sky Productions show.
