Garner’s delight at deal for playmaker Oztumer

BRISTOL Rovers boss Ben Garner and his new signing Erhun Oztumer have both spoken of their delight after the latter’s arrival on a season-long loan from Charlton Athletic.

The 29-year-old playmaker has joined the Pirates on loan from their League One rivals ahead of the weekend clash with Burton.

His arrival is something of a coup for Rovers, with Oztumer having proved himself as a goalscoring midfielder in the Championship and in League One, having had spells with Walsall, Peterborough, Bolton and Charlton.

Garner has admitted his delight at having Oztumer on board.

He said: “He’s a player that has great experience at this level and the one above.

“With his ability and creativity he will be a great addition to the options that we already have in the attacking positions.

“We would like to thank Charlton for accommodating the loan move, and we look forward to working with Erhun as we head into a busy period of fixtures.”

Oztumer insists he cannot wait to get started with Rovers, having spoken of a whirlwind 24 hours leading up to his signing.

“It’s been so smooth, I found out (on Wednesday) and I’m here now, signed for Rovers, so I’m delighted,” he told the official club website.

“I spoke to Luke (Leahy) and he’s been saying some great things and that it’s a great club. Hopefully I can make more friends here and help the team in any way I can. I can use my experience in different leagues and countries and put it into Rovers and help the team in any way, shape or form, I can’t wait to get started.”

The controversial £14.95 charge for top-flight pay-per-view matches was suggested by the Premier League, the boss of BT Sport has said.

The League and its broadcast partners have been heavily criticised over the pricing of the games, which are not selected for regular coverage by Sky Sports or BT Sport.
