We’ll focus on ourselves, insists Duff

MICHAEL Duff wants to avoid a repeat of their last midweek game when Cheltenham play host to Scunthorpe this evening.

The third-placed Robins could have gone top of League Two with victory over Grimsby last Tuesday, but slipped up 3-1 against the lowly Mariners.

Tonight’s visitors to the JonnyRocks Stadium lie fourth from bottom with just four points from their six matches thus far.

Duff said: “We are focusing on ourselves. Scunthorpe have had two disappointing defeats in their last two games and they’ve played two different formations, so we are not quite sure how they’ll set up, or who will be playing.

“Last Tuesday was a perfect example of this League. People assume, but you can’t do that because it’s not that easy.

“Grimsby came and they hadn’t done any training, so it shows if you just get on with it and your mentality is right, you can.

“We’ll be focused on what we do and how we can impose our game onto them. The onus is on us to take the game to them and that’s what we’ll be trying to do.”

Gloucestershire rivals Forest Green Rovers are also in action this evening, in their case away to Colchester.

Mark Cooper’s side are level on points with Cheltenham having beaten Stevenage 1-0 on Saturday.

The head coach must once again select his squad without being able to call upon the four players caught up in the positive Covid-19 test at the club.

Colchester are firmly in midtable, but have lost only once so far this term with four draws and one win from their six games, although they are winless in their last four outings.
