Holloway not interested in a Rovers return

League with QPR and reaching the Championship play-offs at Selhurst Park.

In contrast to Curle, however, Ian Holloway is believed to have no interest in replacing Tisdale as Rovers manager.

Club legend Holloway has often been the supporters’ choice to lead the Pirates when the job has become available in recent years, but the 57-year-old is believed to have ruled himself out of the running to fill the vacancy.

Holloway recently quit Grimsby following a change of ownership at Blundell Park, and has hinted he may not return to management. He also revealed he is planning on relocating to the north following his stint with the Mariners.

The Bristolian, pictured, began and ended his playing career at

Rovers, making close appearances for the club.

He also began his managerial career with the Pirates in 1996, overseeing almost 250 games.

However, he declined to apply for the job after the departure of Graham Coughlan in December 2019 and the club subsequently appointed Ben Garner.

Holloway has not been shy in scrutinising Rovers’ ownership, which always made it unlikely that he would be willing to make a return as manager.

Instead, Tommy Widdrington remains an odds-on favourite with the bookmakers to be the next permanent manager.

The club’s director of football has been placed in caretaker charge ahead of tomorrow’s crunch clash with relegation rivals Swindon, and the oddsmakers believe he will hold the reins for at least ten games – the threshold in the market’s for a permanent appointment.

Ex-Rovers players and current club coaches Lee Mansell and Byron Anthony are also high up in the betting, while Joey Barton is among the contenders too.
