YEOVIL eased their relegation fears with a win over promotionchasing Altrincham in the National League on Saturday

Joe Quigley had a goal disallowed for the home side late in the first half, but a superb finish from Rhys Murphy deservedly edged them in front shortly after the hour mark.

Substitute Chris Dagnall, pictured above, made the points safe just six minutes after coming on when he headed home at the back post from Alex Bradley’s cross.

Billy Sass-Davies almost made it 3-0 against his former club but saw his 85th-minute header cleared off the line.

Glovers boss Darren Sarll had made several changes to his side after last Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat at Eastleigh.

Adam Smith remained in goal, but there was a return for Carl Dickinson, who captained the side in Lee Collins’ absence.

Max Hunt and Billy Sass-Davies began in the middle with Alex Bradley in the right full back spot.

Jimmy Smith returned to the side in a holding role, with Josh Neufville, Tom Knowles and Albi Skendi ahead of him. Reuben Reid and Joe Quigley led the line.

A debut goal for Gold Omotayo ensured table toppers Gloucester City shared the points with Chorley in Saturday’s only National League North match. The Tigers had the better of the first half and went ahead after 26 minutes through a debut goal from Omotayo, who beat Matt Urwin with a glancing header from a free-kick. The Magpies’ equaliser arrived in the 73rd minute. Elliot Newby ghosted past defenders before curling home a delightful shot. However, the future of the competition this season remains unclear due to the pandemic.
