Holden is clearly struggling in the role as can be seen from the constant team changes of late and ever worsening displays. His management has created a team that lack any semblance of confidence and any form of structure.

Goals continue to be in very short supply.

There are only two teams in the three divisions of the Football League that have had less shots than City this season.

A damning statistic.

We continue to play the majority of our football in our own half therefore we are constantly under pressure. Without Bentley in goal and Captain Kalas at Centre Back we would probably be in a relegation battle; as it is I predict we will finish 15th or 16th.

When Holden was appointed it was to continue to follow the model. Well clearly the model is wrong. We have an undefined playing style, an inability to play a pressing game which leads to a critical shortage of goals.

We have far too many long-term injuries, which cannot just be bad luck, many of which are picked up in training.

The whole of the management set up now needs a drastic overhaul if we really do have ambitions to be proper play-off contenders, let alone promotion hopefuls.

Anyone who thinks we are currently on the right track is delusional.

Compare ourselves to Brentford, Swansea and Norwich to see how far away from success we are. And do not blame selling our best players. Note Brentford in particular – top goal scorer 18/19 Maupay 25 goals, sold end of season. 19/20 Watkins 25 goals, Benrahma 17 goals both sold end of season and yet they are still competing at the top with new top scorer Toney 22 goals to date (City have scored 29 in total).

Our top scorers during same period Diedjhou 12 in both seasons with 6 in present with Weimann second best with 10 and 9 and Wells in current season 5. Surely that says it all.

Stephen Lansdown in return for the huge investment he has made deserves a far better return. He has seen what top management can achieve with Bristol Bears. It is now up to him to take back the reins, short term and use the Bears as the ‘model’ to follow. Only then will we start to make the progress that we all want to see.

If this club truly has ambition we need to act now.

39 points should be enough not to have to worry about relegation. With several players out of contract at the end of the season and with loan deals expiring, a new management team appointed now could then assess the current squad, decide who they wish to retain and what they require for next season to fit their chosen style of play.

This would have us up and running in the season from the word go.

There is nothing to be gained by waiting; this season is gone, the future lies ahead and can be exciting if urgent action is taken now.
