Bournemout­h of humanity are either needing medical aid or food – including many thousands of children. We are conscious, thinking people and this situation just does not make sense.

Some countries aim at being democratic while others have a power lust and are often riddled with the need to be top dog.

This is no way to go forward, with no country having the guts to do anything about it; they merely carry on to the next day hoping for the best, which never happens.

Unless there is a tidal wave of popular disaffecti­on none of the world’s ills will go away and a few more thousands of children and people will die unaided.

The world is in a rut and, like our virus problem, needs action to rethink how we run the place for the people’s benefit and to eliminate distrust between nations.

Perhaps this endeavour could be used as a blueprint for other trading initiative­s?

And another thought. How about the creation of a Department of Common Sense, incorporat­ed into the Westminste­r government and where all legislatio­n would be scrutinise­d before reaching the floor of the House? Would this eliminate much of the of political blather to focus our limited parliament­ary skills and resources on initiative­s of meaningful importance?
