LIVERPOOL heaped pressure upon Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a 5-0 demolition job at Old Trafford yesterday afternoon.

Mohamed Salah scored a hattrick and Paul Pogba was sent off on an embarrassi­ng day for the Red Devils.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were four goals up at the break after goals from Naby Keita, Diogo Jota and Salah (2). The Egyptian added a third after the break, while Pogba, on as a half-time substitute, was sent off for a two-footed tackle.

Elsewhere, Leicester took a 2-1 victory at Brentford thanks to a winner from James Maddison.

The reigning champions were untouchabl­e for 45 minutes as Phil Foden scored twice after Ilkay Gundogan had opened the scoring. Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty gave Brighton a foothold, but Riyad Mahrez hit the fourth late on.

Newcastle claimed their first point under new ownership with 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Christian Benteke gave Palace the lead, but Callum Wilson drew the Magpies level in spectacula­r fashion.

Watford engineered a stunning late turnaround to claim a 5-2 victory at Everton. Josh King scored a hat-trick, while Juraj Kucka and Emmanuel Dennis also netted for the Hornets, while Tom Davies and Richarliso­n were on target for the home side.

Southampto­n (Tino Livramento and Armando Broja) and Burnley (Maxwel Cornet two) drew 2-2, Leeds (Rodrigo) and Wolves (Hwang Hee-chan) finished 1-1, and Arsenal beat Aston Villa 3-1 on Friday night.
