Yate impress ahead of their big FA Cup replay

-

YATE warmed up for tomorrow’s rearranged FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay against Dover with a well-earned 3-1 home victory over Walton Casuals in the Southern League Premier Division South.

Dave Sims-Burgess headed the hosts into a 22nd-minute lead and Ollie Mehew doubled the Yate advantage four minutes later.

Zidan Akers halved the deficit shortly before half-time, but James Harding secured the points for the Lodge Road side four minutes from the full-time whistle.

Elsewhere, Weston-super-Mare were also 3-1 home winners as the Seagulls came from behind to beat Chesham.

Bradley Clayton gave the visitors a tenth-minute lead, but two goals from Lloyd Humphries and another from Prince Henry ensured the points stayed in Somerset.

Salisbury, meanwhile, had to settle for a 3-3 draw at Beaconsfield after failing to hold onto their advantage no less than three times.

Charlie Kennedy, Marvin Brooks and Harry Baker, in the 89th minute, all put the Whites in front, but Oliver McCoy, Scott Donnelly and McCoy again saw that the points were shared.

Swindon Supermarine fell 1-0 at Hartley Wintney thanks to a 57thminute winner from Kingsley Eshun, while Taunton are fourth in the table despite being held to a 0-0 draw at Hendon. Farnborough remain top of the pile following their 2-1 win at Dorchester.

Meanwhile, in Division One South, Cirencester narrowed the gap to leaders Totton to two points with a game in hand following a 5-1 triumph at hapless Barnstaple, who remain bottom and pointless.

Harry Williams and Jake Lee soon had the Centurions two goals clear, although Jacob Evans halved the deficit before the break.

However, Josh Nelmes, Williams again and Josh Grace-Parsons tied things up in the second half.

Frome are just one point further back in third with another game in hand after Kane Simpson scored a second-half hat-trick to beat hosts Cinderford 3-2 from two goals down.

Cam Duncan and Jack Freeman had the Foresters ahead at the break, but Simpson then delivered.

Paulton enjoyed a 2-0 home win over high-flying Sholing thanks to strikes from Will Harvey and Ed Butcher, but Bristol Manor Farm crashed 2-0 at home to Bideford.

Aysa Corrick bagged the only goal as Larkhall edged Highworth 1-0, while Ryan Morgan and Albie Hopkins netted as Melksham won 2-0 at Mangotsfield, and Slimbridge saw off Lymington 3-0 with Michael Ford, Marley Thomas and Johan Flo on the mark.
