YEOVIL TOWN .................. 2 EASTLEIGH ....................... 1

DARREN Sarll was full of praise for his Yeovil side after they ground out an important win against Eastleigh in the National League.

The Glovers moved up to 13th place in the table, level on points with their opponents, and eight points off the play-off places with games in hand on the teams above them in the standings.

Tom Knowles and Adi Yussuf, pictured, scored for the Green & Whites, with Harry Pritchard having equalised for the visitors.

Huish Park boss Sarll said: “I don’t think it was very pleasing on the eye, the performance, but for effort, togetherness, physicality, attitude, all those sorts of things, I thought it was a ten out of ten. The desire to win was incredible.

“I’m really pleased for Adi, he’s looking a lot fitter and sharper.”

Pritchard wasted an early chance and Tyrone Barnett was just unable to connect with Ben House’s cross as Eastleigh pressed from the start.

Yeovil’s Dan Moss had an effort blocked and Yussuf headed wide, but Knowles’ rocket just before half-time gave the Glovers the lead.

Eastleigh defender Andrew Boyce headed Tom Whelan’s freekick wide and House was also off target, but Pritchard levelled the scores in the 68th minute, finishing at the second attempt.

Yussuf soon restored Yeovil’s advantage though, finishing emphatically from substitute Joe Quigley’s flick-on. It remained 2-1 as Quigley was denied a third by goalkeeper Joe McDonnell.

The Glovers have now taken seven points from their last three matches. Their next two games in the league are away to Dagenham & Redbridge and Bromley.
