Mansell confirmed as boss until the summer

-

GLOUCESTER City interim boss Lee Mansell had cause for a double celebration on Saturday night after his side’s 2-0 home win over Farsley Celtic, which lifted the Tigers off the bottom of the National League North table, was followed by the news that he will remain in charge until at least the end of the season.

Mansell was placed in command following the departure of Paul Groves at the end of September, but had to wait until Saturday to earn his first victory.

Both goals against Farsley came from on-loan Bristol Rovers youngster Ollie Hulbert, who struck after 12 and 80 minutes.

City are now one of four teams on nine points along with Guiseley, Telford and Blyth Spartans.

Elsewhere in National League North, Hereford picked up another three points and another clean sheet with a 2-0 triumph away to Guiseley.

Ryan Lloyd gave the Bulls the lead on the stroke of half-time, and Ryan McLean made it two midway through the second period.

Hereford are now 16th in the table, four points above the fourway tie at the bottom.

Fylde and Brackley currently lead the way at the top with 30 points each following their 3-3 draw at the weekend. Brackley scored a 90th-minute equaliser.

■ Chippenham collected all three points by comfortably seeing off bottom-of-the-table Billericay 3-0 in the National League South.

The Bluebirds created plenty of chances before Ricky Aguiar finally gave them a 40th-minute lead from a rebound. Dan Griffiths scored the second goal with a fine shot ten minutes into the second half, and skipper Kieran Parselle wrapped up the points with a third goal five minutes from the end.

Bath City, meanwhile, finished a well-beaten side away to Dulwich Hamlet, who triumphed 3-0.

Quade Taylor, Jordan Green and Darren McQueen scored for the south London side.

The Romans, meanwhile, have announced the signing of 25year-old Yate Town front man Dave Sims-Burgess.
