Commission and undermine its ability to monitor elections.

Other bills, such as the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill and the Judicial Review and Courts Bill all take power out of the hands of ordinary people and our democratic institutions and concentrate it in the hands of the Government.

The fact that this Government is so happy to take liberties with public trust is, I fear, a sad sign that this Government is already preparing for a future where it cannot be held accountable.

Bristol making. Slashing our international aid budget at this time shows a callous disregard for humanity and global equity.

Addressing the immediate human rights disaster in the Channel is not simple.

The solution must lie with constructive engagement with our European allies, taking a fair share of refugees who are now in Europe, cracking down on people traffickers and treating all migrants and refugees with the respect and compassion they deserve.

Sadly the arrogant Brexit negotiating approach of Boris Johnson makes this more difficult.

Our Government is planning to do the opposite in breach of international UN refugee protection rules.

The proposed Nationality and Borders Bill will criminalise asylum seekers and those genuinely trying to help them.

If you want to learn more about the bill, the Green Party has organised an online Cloud Cafe presentation and discussion at 7pm on Wednesday December 8 – see the Stroud Green Party website for sign up details.

Central Ward recently pictured with her threemonth-old baby in the House of Commons] would welcome the chance to spend as much time as possible to be with her child as they are soon grown up and leave home at 18.

My first baby never slept for more than two hours day and night until she was 18 months. When she slept so did I! I don’t think I could have coped with the hassle of work.

Maternity leave has been set up so that mothers can enjoy the first moments of their children’s lives without having to give up their careers – my advice is grab it, stay at home and enjoy them while you have the chance. They are soon gone and Parliament will still be there. Mrs A Essex
