When it comes to how to mark 70 years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first. But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee – The Queen’s message at the end of her Platinum Jubilee commemorat­ions.

It’s been really good to be asked to get involved in this. We compete in the whole circuit but it’s been really good working with so many people than what you normally do. It’s been brilliant working with other clubs. We’re learning different skills of how people do stuff, it’s a whole next experience and is a once-in-a-lifetime – Simon Male, of Somerset’s Harlequins Carnival Club on working with rivals to create a float for the pageant.
