Comedian Bill in walk to honour friend Sean

-

COMEDIAN Bill Bailey plans to walk part of the South West Coast Path in honour of colleague and friend Sean Lock, who died last year of cancer.

Lock died suddenly aged 58 in August to the shock of thousands of fans and fellow comedians alike.

Bailey, who grew up in Keynsham and was educated in Bath, was among the media personalities who knew Sean both on and off camera, and is now planning a walk in his memory a year on from his death.

The 100-plus mile walk will take place in August.

He will set off from Bude and head to Combe Martin on a seven-day amble along the coast path. Bailey, who has a home in North Devon, is doing the walk to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He said: “This August, it will be one year since we lost the brilliant comedian and my dear friend Sean Lock to cancer.

“I will be taking on a 100-mile walk along a section of the South West Coast Path to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support who provided such wonderful support for Sean and his family.

“On the seven-day walk from Bude in Cornwall to Combe Martin in Devon, one of our favourite routes, I will be joined by Sean’s family and friends.

“The walk will be a chance to get together and celebrate his life while doing something he loved so much.

“Every penny donated will help Macmillan to provide emotional, physical and financial support for people living with cancer in the UK.”

As of yesterday, Bailey’s charity page had raised nearly £25,000.
