Offshore tech company Rovco adds new ship to fleet after deal

-

BRISTOL-BASED offshore tech company Rovco has bolstered its fleet of ships after agreeing a deal to charter another vessel.

The firm signed a charter party agreement with offshore ship supplier Glomar Offshore for the Glomar Worker dynamic positioning (DP) boat.

The 60m long DP2 multi-purpose offshore support vessel will be put to work on the company’s growing number of secured subsea survey campaigns for major operational windfarms across UK waters.

Rovco, which was founded in 2015, provides precise 3D modelling of seabed infrastructures, cable and pipeline surveys, and decommissioning support.

The business said it would recruit a team of experts on the Glomar Worker to deliver subsea surveys and specialised offshore projects.

It comes a month after the company agreed a multimillion-pound contract to carry out work to subsea structures on a wind farm off the coast of East Anglia.

Simon Miller, managing director of Rovco, said “multiple projects” were already secured for the Glomar

Worker, until this autumn.

“We are pleased to continue building our existing relationship with Glomar to support the offshore wind sector, adding another of their valuable assets to our pool,” he said.

The Glomar Worker, which was built in 2008 and underwent an extensive rebuild in 2020, provides living accommodation for up to 44 people. The purpose-built vessel provides a combined deck space of 497m2.

Klaas Weij, chief executive of Glomar Offshore, added: “We would like to thank Rovco for selecting our recently upgraded Glomar Worker for their 2022 campaigns and for the continuous trust shown in our tonnage over the last three years.”

In April, Rovco secured £15.2m in a Series B funding round. The raise was co-led by financial services giant Legal & General, which invested £8.5m, alongside the venture capital arm of international energy company Equinor.

Other participants include existing shareholder Foresight Group and InQ-Tel, a strategic investor for the US intelligence and defence communities and allied nations.
