SWINDON Town have signed two new players for the coming season and also appointed an assistant head coach to new boss Scott Lindsey on a busy day at the County Ground.

Former Leicester City winger Tyrese Shade has penned a two-year contract, while goalkeeper Sol Brynn joins on a season-long loan from Championship side Middlesbrough.

The Wiltshire outfit have also named Jamie Day as assistant boss.

Twenty-two-year-old Shade joined the Foxes’ academy in 2017 but never made a first-team appearance for the club before confirming his departure in May. He spent last term on loan at Walsall, pictured on left, and played 39 times in League Two.

“It’s a great feeling to sign for Swindon,” Shade told the official club website. “There’s a really good feel around this club and I can’t wait to get started. Having played against the club last season, I was really impressed by their attacking football and I really want to be a part of that.”

Brynn, who has been with Boro since 2009, got his first taste of senior football last season when he spent time on loan at Queen of the South, featuring 16 times in the Scottish Championship.

The 21-year-old said: “This is a great move for me and I’m really excited to get pre-season under way and work hard to earn my place in the first-team.”

Day, meanwhile, arrives at the County Ground having most recently been in charge of the Bangladesh national team.

The 42-year-old ex-Arsenal trainee has experience of football in the West Country having been number two to Ady Pennock at Forest Green during the 2015-16 season.*
