New tourist attraction as climbing park opens
AFTER a soft launch lasting a month, a major new attraction in Gloucestershire has officially opened and it hopes to reach new heights in the months to come.
270 Climbing Park in Bentham is a new landmark in the county and can be seen from the A417.
Work on phase one of the project, built where the Bentham Domes used to be, has finished with landscaping work and the final touches being made to the six-tier high rope course and 22m-tall activity tower with jumps and ziplines.
Phase two will see the introduction of a dedicated bouldering gym and other fun climbing facilities around September this year, while phase three will see the development of the main climbing arena as well as other facilities during next year.
Upon final completion, the project will see the total redevelopment of the site of the former Bentham Country Club in Gloucestershire, on the edge of the Cotswolds, into a huge climbing park and one of the biggest adventure activity centres in the country with activities for all ages and abilities.
Work over the coming months includes the front building being redeveloped to include a 200-plus seater cafe with inside and outdoors seating, party rooms, retail spaces and offices.
The high ropes and tower offer a dynamic activity for people, whether it’s experienced adrenaline seekers or novices.
It can also be used as challenging training facilities for all kinds of sport and fitness clubs, the emergency services and military personnel.
Company director David Stevens said: “It’s still early days with the project but we’ve had some incredible customer feedback so far from people during our trial run. We want everyone to get the most out of their time with us and we’re genuinely interested whether visitors had a good time with us or not.”
He added: “In fact, current customer feedback on our software platform places 270 Climbing Park comfortably within the top 10% of tourist attractions and venues across Europe.
“We’re so pleased to bring such an exciting attraction to the region and to hear that people are enjoying themselves so much is just the icing on top.”
