It’s ‘good news’ year – I wonder why?

-

AMAZING, is it not, that in this year of the next general election, there are suddenly so many supportive grants, carrots and incentives to a various selection of deserving causes!

The South West receives a visit from our PM expressing a ‘keen interest’ in farming, fishing, the dockyard, transport, road repairs, NHS, defence, councils and all the other aspects which have been deprived of serious funding during his watch and the previous PMs of his political party.

All of a sudden it’s bait on the hook for this ‘fisherman’ to attempt to ensure he remains in power following the forthcoming general election. But the Tory record over 12-plus years is rather lacking in credibility and achievement, is it not? There remains, of course, the real fear and concern that Labour is actually physically equipped to assume control of the nation. The minor fringe parties of Green or Lib Dems face a major uphill challenge to establish a foothold within Parliament. And the SNP? No way!

The other current issue on the political front is that of the House of Lords. Filled by favouritism and financial back-handers, it needs to be limited to a maximum of, say, 200 to maintain a supervisory control on the extremities of the House of Commons. A constructive monitoring level by experienced individuals who actually know what they are talking about with personal professional experience.

Cadet Starmer has certainly moved away from Cobyn, but does he have the control? Answers on a voting paper in May (preferably) or October. But do watch out for future ‘carrots’ offered, via the TV or otherwise.
