Clarkson suffering a public invasion
JEREMY Clarkson has revealed how the success of his Amazon Prime TV show has led to members of the public invading his home to have a look round.
The Clarkson’s Farm star said his girlfriend Lisa Hogan was surprised by one couple having a nosey on their Cotswolds farm when she had just stepped out of the shower and was naked under a towel.
The third series of Clarkson’s Farm has just gone live on Amazon, and in an interview with the Guardian, Clarkson said there had been a string of incidents, with parents even turning up with their children and encouraging them to go into his house.
He said that on one occasion he found a man sitting in his kitchen at the farm near Chadlington. Clarkson assumed he was with the crew and carried on working on his laptop.
“He was looking at me writing the voiceover for Clarkson’s Farm and said, ‘Oh, is this the new series?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ I was chatting away, then suddenly went, ‘Who are you?’ And he went, ‘I was just passing.’ I said, ‘No, I’m sorry, you cannot just walk into somebody’s house and pull up a chair.’
“He looked a bit baffled. They all do. The other day there was a knock on the door. Four sweet little kids. Their mothers at the gate, going, ‘Go on, kids.’ Like, ‘Walk in.’ I was like, no! You have to be nice to the children, obviously, it’s not their fault. But I did take their mothers to one side and say, ‘You can’t do that.’”
On one occasion Lisa came out of the shower in a towelling robe and bumped into a couple having a nosy around. Their attitude, Clarkson says, was, “He’s on television, he won’t mind.”
